PENDAHULUAN :
Pengujian sifat mekanik bahan merupakan disiplin ilmu yang fokus utamanya adalah mengetahui kemampuan bahan terhadap gaya dari luar atau beban (the response of metals to forces or load), sehingga dapat diketahui nilai batas kemampuannya dan aman digunakan. Untuk dapat memahami lebih lengkap tentang pengujian sifat mekanik bahan diperlukan pengetahuan seperti: kekuatan bahan (strength of materials), teorema elastisitas dan plastisitas, mesin disain , matematika, fisika, dll.
Pemahaman kekuatan bahan misalnya diasumsikan bahwa kekuatan bahan terfokus pada teori kekuatan, elastisitas dan plastisitas yang pada hakekatnya asumsi tersebut hanya untuk bahan atau material yang homogen saja (tanpa melibatkan pengaruh temperatur misalnya). Hubungan sifat mekanik dan struktur mikro merupakan hal yang sangat penting dipahami, mengingat setiap perubahan struktur mikro akan berakibat pada perubahan sifat mekanik bahan, misalnya pengaruh temperatur tinggi akan menyebabkan sifat logam menjadi lunak dan sebaliknya pada temperatur rendah sifat logam akan menjadi getas. Untuk mendukung sistem produksi yang memadai diperlukan tenaga kerja yang handal atau peningkatan keahlian tenaga kerja profesi Pengujian Material Bersifat Merusak (Destuctive Test).

He was graduated from politeknik universitas brawijaya malang for his diploma in mechanical engineering majoring on mechanical maintenance and repairing, from ITS Surabaya for his bachelor in mechanical engineering majoring on production engineering, and from ITB Bandung for his master program in mechanical engineering majoring on production engineering. Now he is as lecturer at mechanical engineering Politeknik Negeri Bandung(before as poltek ITB). Ir. Sugeng Isdwiyanudi, MT. has followed many trainings/courses to improve his competence. He is active instructor who often deliver training for industrial participants in Indonesia, many topics he teachs in training e.g.:
