Training Content
Identifying Improvement Project

1. Use brainstorming techniques to define the scope of possible improvement project
2. Opportunities
3. Compare and prioritize issues using project analysis
4. Analyze and flowcharting a work process
5. Identify direct and inconspicuous categories of data for your project
6. Identify areas in processes where more data gathering is required for project definition

Organizing Data
1. Distinguish between mean, mode and median
2. Calculate mean, mode, median and range
3. Create check sheets
4. Use Pareto Analysis to compare items on the basis of frequency or cost
5. Use check sheet data to produce bar graphs, histograms, pie charts, and run charts

Improvement Goals
1. Identify characteristics of an Improvement Goal
2. Define measures and objectives to support an Improvement Goal

Identifying Improvement Obstacles
1. Create a cause and effect (fishbone) diagram
2. Analyze scatter diagrams to determine data correlation patterns
3. Distinguish between special and common cause
4. Apply an understanding of brainstorming techniques to identify possible solutions

Continuous Improvement Process
1. Distinguish between driving and restraining forces of change
2. Identify the force fields of your project
3. Use the storyboard technique to document and present your improvement team’s project
4. Identify and preparing for the next step of your improvement process
