This course covers AC/DC electrical motor drives for speed/position control.  It presents an integrated discussion of AC/DC electric motor, power electronics, and control systems. Applications of electric drives can be found in industries, electric transportation, robotics, process control and energy conservation. This course gives a thorough understanding of AC/DC electrical motor’s working, control , protection, maintenance, failure modes and the tools to maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical motors drives.

Course Outcomes:
After successfully completing this course, Participants will able to do the following:

  1. Understand the AC/DC electrical motor drives basic principles
  2. Describe the Electric Drive systems and various applications such as flexible production systems, industries, transportation, robotics and process control.
  3. Understand the principle on AC/DC electrical motor.
  4. Understand the basic principles of power electronics in drives using switch-mode converters and pulse width modulation.
  5. Design torque, speed, and position controllers of motor drives.
  6. Explain operating principles, major components and control logic used with AC and DC drive speed controls.
  7. Learn the stepper motors and switched-reluctance motor drives.
  8. Get an appreciation of power quality issues in powering electric drives.
  9. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of AC DC drives based on application.
  10. Discuss the advantages of using variable speed drives in constant torque and variable horsepower loads.
  11. Understand the Troubleshoot of AC/DC electrical motor drives.

LATAR BELAKANG:
Alat-alat Penukar Kalor (Heat-Exchangers) berperan penting dalam mengkondisikan fluida sehingga fluida yang bersangkutan layak melakukan proses selanjutnya, seperti, sebagai agen proses industri, transportasi energi, pengukuran/pengontrolan, perubahan fasa dan lain sebagainya.

Kegagalan operasi suatu Alat Penukar Kalor menyebabkan terganggu atau terhentinya proses total pada suatu industri (kilang). Keandalan suatu proses atau operasi sangat tergantung pada kesiapan sumber daya manusia yang terlibat pada proses yang bersangkutan. Pelatihan yang ditawarkan dimaksudkan untuk mempersiapkan dan atau menambah kompetensi para pelaku proses industri sehingga lebih siap dalam penanganan masalah-masalah alat-alat Penukar Kalor.

TUJUAN TRAINING :
Training yang akan diadakan mempunyai tujuan seperti yang tertera pada butir-butir berikut :

  • Memahami parameter-parameter yang terlibat dalam proses penukaran kalor pada Alat Penukar Kalor.
  • Mampu menafsirkan kelainan atau  penyimpangan yang terjadi pada operasi Alat Penukar Kalor dan mampu mencari pemecahannya.
  • Memahami besaran besaran prestasi Alat Penukar Kalor sehingga dapat melakukan penaksiran tingkat keberhasilan alat.
  • Mampu meramalkan perubahan prestasi yang akan terjadi bila terpaksa harus melakukan perubahan rancangan  alat.
  • Lebih siap dalam mengoperasikan dan merawat alat serta  melakukan penanganan bila terjadi kelainan operasi.

TRAINING INSTRUCTOR
Ir. Pawito Merto Sontowiro, Msc adalah alumnus Teknik Mesin ITB dan sejak tahun 1973 menjadi dosen di jurusan tersebut sampai sekarang. Beliau adalah kepala Laboratorium Energi termal Teknik Mesin Institut Teknologi Bandung, Beliau juga pernah menjabat sebagai ketua jurusan Teknik Mesin ITENAS Bandung, Pernah mengajar di SESKOAD, Pernah mengajar di prokerma depnaker-ITB, prokerma PLN-ITB. Beliau juga pernah memperdalam keilmuan di luar negeri seperti bidang Coal Energy , Argonne, Chicago, Ill., USA, bidang Combustion, Petc, Pittsburgh, Pa, USA dan Pinch Technology, Asian-Australia Energy Cooperation. Bidang spesialisasi Beliau adalah Boiler, Turbin Uap/Gas, Pompa, Kompresor, Konversi Energi dan analisis energy.. Pernah mengerjakan projek pada bidang Modifikasi Sistem Pembakaran Lokomotip D-52, Modifikasi Sistem Penunjang Boiler, Analisis Sistem Boiler, dan lain-lain. Mechanics may be defined as that science which describes and predicts the conditions of rest or motion of bodies under the action of forces. It is divided into three parts: mechanics of rigid bodies, mechanics of deformable bodies and mechanics of fluids. The mechanics of rigid bodies is subdivided into static and dynamic, the former dealing with bodies at rest, the latter with bodies in motion. Mechanics is a physical science, since it deals with the study of physical phenomena. Mechanics is the foundation of most engineering sciences and is indispensable prerequisite to their study. The purpose of mechanics is to explain and predict physical phenomena and thus to lay the foundations for engineering applications.

Ir. Maridjo,MT. is alumnus from Mechanical Engineering Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). He has been lecturer at PEDC and now as lecturer at mechanical engineering Polytechnique ITB (POLBAN). Ir. Maridjo has taught many topics related to his expertise to many companies in Indonesia, such as predictive and preventive maintenance, lubrication system, diesel machine, pump, gas turbine, piping and pipeline, compressor, boiler, and many others. TRAINING INSTRUCTOR
Ir.Endra Joelianto, Ph.D. is an expert in control engineering and industrial automation. His outstanding research is: Hybrid Control Systems, Discrete Event Control Systems, Petri Nets Analysis and Application on PLC, Robust and Advanced PID Controller and its implementation on PLC, DCS, Fieldbus, Industrial automation and Advanced Control System Designs. He received first degree (Ir.) in Engineering Physics in 1990 from Department of Engineering Physics, ITB and Doctor of Philosofy (PhD.) in Control Engineering in 2001 from Department of Engineering, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.  He is Head of Intelligent Control and Automation Laboratory and Coordinator of PLC Research Group for research and training, Engineering Physics Study Program and Instrumentation and Control Research Division, Institut Teknologi Bandung. He was Director of Schneider-OMRON PLC Training Center, Maranatha Christian University, Bandung.  He has attended several professional training on PLC, DCS and Instruments Callibration, such as: Yokogawa DCS, Bandung (2000), Implementation of Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-17025 and Basic Calibration, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Bandung (2001), Fieldbus Foundation Technology, Singapore (2002), Basic and Advanced PLC Telemecanique-TWIDO, Bandung (2003), Basic and Advanced PLC OMRON, Jakarta (2004), Cleaner Production Application in Industries (Bandung 2005), Effective Energy Systems for Sustainable Development (Thailand 2006), Programming and Networking PLC Mitsubishi (2006), InTouch Wonderware, Wonderware Historian and Information Server (Bandung, 2012). He also has hosted Workshop on Industrial Automation (Bandung, 2002) and (Bandung, 2003), Workshop on Application of PLC in Industrial Automation (Bandung, 2003), National Workshop on Instrumentation & Control (2011) and many professional trainings on PLC, DCS, SCADA, Human Machine Interface and Industrial Process Control and Automation in Bandung.
